Karmen Corak was born in Slovenia. She studied Graphic Arts in Croatia and then Conservation and restoration of artworks on paper in Italy, Japan and Austria. Moreover, she attended various seminars in photography taken by Rinko Kawauchi and Hans-Christian Schink. Throughout the years Corak has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Croatia, France, Japan, Italy, Russia, Slovenia, Spain, Hungary and USA, receiving international awards for Fine Art Photography in Paris, Malaga and Berlin. Her works of art are displayed in public collections in Italy and Japan. From 2001 to 2018 she has been a conservator at the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea of Rome and worked with MAXXI. She also developed exhibition projects of contemporary art for public and private institutions. Currently Corak is working at the Gallerie dell’Accademia di Venezia as restorer/conservator of artworks on paper.
