After attending a course of Advanced Photogaphy at Markey Photo Workshop in Johannesburg, she graduated in Documentary Media (MA of Fine Arts) at Ryerson University in Toronto in 2009. From 2013, she is an honorary professor of Arts/Hochschule für Künste in Bremen. Among her prizes, she received the title of Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the Infinity Award of the International Center of Photograhy. Her most recent solo exhibitions include: Spelman College Museum of Fine Art, Atlanta; Fotografiska, Stockholm; LUMA Westbau, Zurich (2018); Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam (2017) e Autograph ABP, London (2017). The artist produced an urban project called Masihambisane – on Visual Activism on the occasion of Performa 17, New York (2017).
