Lia Pasqualino was born in Palermo, from a well-known family of artists and intellectuals. After her degree at the Istituto di Patologia del Libro of Rome, having worked in the field of paper restauration, she met the photographer Letizia Battaglia. Since 1986 she dedicated herself exclusively to photography, alternately working at reportage or at still photography. In the last, she didn’t just show the life on the set, but she developed her own personal vision in which the reportage is intertwined with a rigorous research with landscapes, faces and objects soaked in a silent and suspended atmosphere.
She published “Il manoscritto del Principe”, Federico Motta ed.(2000) and “Intorno a Viaggio Segreto”, Contrasto ed. 2006. In Milan in 2008 Ferdinando Scianna presented her portraits work at the Gallery Corso Magenta 10 directed by Adi Corbetta. In 2009 in occasion of the Incontri Internazionali d’Arte the Studio Ageletti in the person of Graziella Lonardi curated an anthological exhibition of her work. In the same year, she participated to the collective “La camera dello sguardo” curated by Bonito Oliva. In 2011 she was one of the artists of Darkroom Project in Muro Leccese. In 2013 her work “Prove di memoria” was shown at the Museo d’arte moderna e contemporanea in the city of Fiume.
